How to Use

For best results, cut a small chunk from the bar to use whilst keeping the remainder dry and stored away. This helps prolong the life of your shampoo bar. Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water. Rub the shampoo bar chunk directly onto your scalp and hair, working from roots to ends, or lather the bar between your hands first and apply the foam. Massage gently to create a rich lather and cleanse the scalp. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Allow the chunk to dry completely between uses on a well-drained soap dish. For best results, follow with a natural conditioner or hair rinse if needed.

Origin and Sourcing

The unrefined shea butter is sourced directly from JilimaCoop, a women's cooperative in Ghana that we built and continue to support through our sourcing, helping to sustain traditional shea butter production and fair livelihoods. The organic argan oil comes from small-scale producers in Morocco who work directly with local communities. Hectorite clay is sourced from natural mineral deposits. All shampoo bars are handmade by Sheabutter Cottage in small batches.

Common Questions

Is this shampoo bar suitable for colour-treated hair?
Yes, the gentle, plant-based formula is safe for colour-treated hair and will not strip colour faster than conventional shampoos.

How long does one bar last?
With proper care and storage, one 85g bar typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks with regular use, replacing 2 to 3 bottles of liquid shampoo.

Will this work for oily or fine hair?
Absolutely. Rhassoul clay naturally absorbs excess oil and impurities, making it ideal for oily scalps, whilst the lightweight argan oil and jojoba oil condition without adding heaviness to fine hair.

We handmake our soaps with generous amounts of nourishing and moisturising plant oils in the "old fashioned traditional way" in small batches.  Mix until our arms can not take it anymore, leave to set, cut into bars and leave to cure.

The curing process is never rushed. It takes a long time [anything from 4 weeks ….] to ensure that you use a very gentle soap.  Oh, and the beauty of this is that the glycerine is all intact to keep the moisture levels balanced.

Each bar or liquid soap is made with you in mind with skin loving + hair friendly oils - we never rush it nor cut corners.

Rather than hiding behind the “natural” jargon, we do make it NATURAL focusing on ethically sourced plant oils and ingredients which work in harmony with your skin + wellbeing.
