HOW TO USE

Wet your hands or a washcloth and work the soap into a rich lather. Massage gently onto damp skin in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use daily as part of your natural skincare routine for face. For best results, follow with a moisturiser whilst skin is still slightly damp. Store the soap in a well-drained dish between uses to prolong its life.

ORIGIN AND SOURCING

Our papaya soap is handmade in small batches at Sheabutter Cottage in the UK and cured for a minimum of six weeks to create a gentle and long lasting bar. The unrefined shea butter is sourced directly from JilimaCoop, a women’s cooperative in Ghana that we built and continue to support through our sourcing, helping to sustain traditional shea butter production and fair livelihoods. We carefully select premium natural ingredients including organic lemon, papaya and turmeric for their skin loving qualities. The soap is made with sustainably sourced unrefined and fair trade palm kernel oil. .

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is this soap suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, the high shea butter content and gentle natural ingredients make this soap suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. However, we recommend patch testing if you have specific concerns.

Can I use this soap on my face?
Absolutely. This soap is gentle enough for facial use and can be used as part of your daily cleansing routine.

How long will one bar last?
With proper care and storage in a well drained soap dish, one bar typically lasts around 3 to 4 weeks with daily use. Longevity can vary depending on how often the soap is used, how well it is allowed to dry between uses and the hardness of the water.

We handmake our soaps with generous amounts of nourishing and moisturising plant oils in the "old fashioned traditional way" in small batches.  Mix until our arms can not take it anymore, leave to set, cut into bars and leave to cure.

The curing process is never rushed. It takes a long time [anything from 4 weeks ….] to ensure that you use a very gentle soap.  Oh, and the beauty of this is that the glycerine is all intact to keep the moisture levels balanced.

Each bar or liquid soap is made with you in mind with skin loving + hair friendly oils - we never rush it nor cut corners.

Rather than hiding behind the “natural” jargon, we do make it NATURAL focusing on ethically sourced plant oils and ingredients which work in harmony with your skin + wellbeing.

Purchased this as alternative to my usual allenblackia that was out of stock (I probs bought them all anyway) and it’s great, long lasting if stored accordingly after each use. And skin feels soft and smooth with no dryness. 10/10

I will recommend this soap

This is my go to soap for any skin concerns. I will recommend this soap.

DOES NOT CAUSE ANY IRRITATION

This soap is the ONLY soap that doesn't cause any irritation or dryness on my skin after use.
Normally I wash my face every other day or 3 days due to how drying most cleansers and soaps can be, but this one work perfectly. It's still too early for me to comment on the long term benefits. But the soap does clean relatively well, it doesn't produce plenty of lather and my face is always soft after using it.

For heavier makeup, I would recommend removing makeup with oil first or using a stronger cleanser. But this cleanser is perfect for general cleaning and can be used daily, with no problem.

I also really love applying their aloe vera gel straight after using this.

Shipping is quite quick too. I'd definitely purchase this product again.

Great for blemishes and dark spots

I’ve only just started using this soap for TWO days, and I had to come on here to review it because it’s THAT good!
After two usages, the blemishes and dark spots around my mouth which I’ve had for a long time (I think it could’ve been perioral dermatitis) are disappearing in front of my very eyes! And if any spots do appear, they don’t last more than a day.

I use argan oil to moisturise my face after using the papaya soap, and my skin is left feeling so soft and rejuvenated and I wake up with moisturised and soft skin in the morning.

Truly can’t recommend it enough, thank you so much Akua and your lovely team back in Ghana for making such wonderful products!

Great for breakouts

I grew up eating this fruit in southern Africa. We called it pawpaw. Little did I know that it would be the answer to keeping my face free of breakouts.
After only 4 weeks of using this soap my skin has a more even skin tone.

Genius creation. Highly recommend this product.
